HYNAUTIC "RESERVALVE" RV-50 MARINE HYDRAULIC STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR
The Hynautic RV-50 "reservalve" is a combined fluid reservoir and pressure control unit
Used in older Hynautic marine hydraulic steering systems,
Designed to maintain a constant low pressure (typically 20-30 psi) in the system
To prevent air ingress and provide a fluid reserve.
Key Specifications of the Hynautic RV-50 Reservalve:
Function: Acts as an expansion tank/reservoir and maintains a low-pressure head in the system.
Capacity: Stores approximately one quart of hydraulic fluid. (The larger reservoir unit stores two quarts).
System Operating Pressure (Air Charge): The system should be pressurized with air via a Schrader valve to between 20 and 30 psi (pounds per square inch).
Porting: The relief valve section of the RV-50 has ports designed to accept Hynautic 5/16" O.D. nylon tube fittings directly; adapters should not be used.
Fluid Filtration: The hydraulic fluid passes through a sintered bronze filter upon exiting the reservalve to prevent dirt from entering the main system.
System Type: Used in 3-line pressurized Hynautic steering systems.
Note: The RV-50 unit contains a pressure gauge to show that it is charged to the proper pressure.
These parts are often still available as used components or can be rebuilt by specialists, as Dometic now owns the Hynautic line.
